Through the Badger Gate
Titel: Through the Badger Gate Schrijver: Ratcliffe, Jane, E. Illustraties: Uitgever: G. Bell Plaats van uitgifte: London Jaar van uitgifte: 1974 ISBN-10: 0 713 51880 4 ISBN-13: 9780713518801 Bindwijze: Gebonden Formaat: 14,5 cm x 22 cm Aantal bladzijden: 118 Taal: Engels Genre: Informatief
Inhoud: Mrs Ratcliffe’s book is in three parts. In the first, readers can share the pleasures (and learn the skills) of watching a number of badger families at close quarters. In the second, she describes how she reared an orphan badger in a specially-prepared part of her garden - in the wall of which is the badger gate of the title - and eventually returned it to the wild. In the third, she explains why badgers need protection and talks about the frustration and occasional despair which characterised her battles with authority before the triumph of the 1973 Act - a badger gateway of another kind and a rare example of official mammal protection in Britain. A book which naturalists young and old will find contains not only a rich store of information about these endearing creatures, but also inspiration for their own efforts, no matter how futile they may seem to be at first, to ensure the survival of wildlife everywhere.
